Thread lift

Thread lifting is an innovative method of facial rejuvenation that offers the advantage of a non-surgical procedure. Degradable PDO threads (polydioxanone threads) are inserted in the desired regions to activate, rejuvenate and/or tighten them.

The thread material adheres to the subcutaneous tissue and, when placed in the appropriate position, can cause a pull in the desired direction, resulting in a slight tightening in the subcutaneous tissue. After a few days, the epidermis becomes firmer and smoother out as a result of natural connective tissue growth (fibrosis). A simple and effective technique for firming the skin and an innovative lifting effect without surgical intervention.

Benefits of thread lifting

  • Less risk than a traditional face lift: no wounds or scars
  • Shorter “down time” (swelling, hematomas, etc.)
  • No visible scars, only minimal entry points
  • Quick healing
  • Short treatment time (20 to 40 minutes)
  • Low risk of pain, inflammation and swelling
  • The result is visible shortly after the procedure

Disadvantages of thread lifting

  • The effect lasts six to 12 months
  • Severely degenerated skin (elastosis) and massively sagging skin areas (dermatochalasis) cannot be corrected with it
  • It is possible to have visible, small dents for a few months
  • The thread lift does not offer a long-lasting and definitive solution, unlike a face lift

How does the treatment work?

The treatment is carried out using local anesthesia. A local puncture allows access and then the absorbable thread is inserted into the deep tissue (subcutaneous tissue). Which threads are used and how many are to be inserted are discussed with the patient beforehand.

Minimally invasive procedure

The minimally invasive procedure activates fibroblasts and generates new connective tissue. As a result, facial skin is tightened (bioregeneration). Certain threads can also lift facial tissue and return it to its original position to a certain extent. After a certain period of time, the threads are absorbed by the tissue and the effect wears off again.

Treatment information

Risks

Temporary swelling, irregularities, asymmetries, and redness. Slight feeling of pressure and sensitivity to touch. Blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, Marcoumar, vitamin E, ginko supplements or omega-3 fatty acids should be discontinued beforehand to prevent bruising (hematomas).

Cost

The cost varies and is agreed upon in advance

Anesthesia

Local anesthesia

Ability to work

Immediately after treatment. A slight feeling of numbness like after a visit to the dentist.

Aftercare

After the treatment, you should refrain from intensive sports and sauna sessions for 48 hours. No dental visits/no DH for two weeks.

Contraindications

Patients with a known autoimmune disease, with various skin cancers or an acute infection may not have a thread treatment carried out. Treatment should also not be carried out during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

After the thread lift, I had no bruises, only minimal swelling and almost no pain – so really great! Once again, a huge thank you! I'm already thinking about doing a thread lift on the upper part of my face next year.
