Axillary hyperhidrosis

Everyone sweats. But two out of 100 people sweat so much that they constantly have moist hands, sweat-soaked clothes and beads of sweat on their foreheads. This is extremely unpleasant and has a huge impact on quality of life. However, hyperhidrosis (extreme sweating) can be effectively treated.

The sweat glands produce up to 14 liters of sweat per day, but people only lose around 100 to 200 ml of sweat per day when not strenuously exerting themselves. However, that's not the case for people who sweat excessively. The technical term for this phenomenon is hyperhidrosis. For people who suffer from hyperhidrosis, constant sweating is not a side effect of summer, but an annoying part everyday life – even in winter.

Hyperhidrosis is easy to treat

Today, heavy sweating can be treated in various ways. The simplest and most popular are injections with a specially designed active ingredient that inhibits the neuromuscular transmission by nerve cells, preventing the sweat glands from producing excessive sweat.

The procedure is referred to as minimally invasive treatment. The medication is injected with a fine needle directly into the overactive sweat glands under the armpit. As a result, sweat production can be reduced by up to 90 percent. The effect is evident after just four to seven days and lasts several months.
