Some patients suffer, due to increasing age or because of a severe weight loss, from sagging upper arms. An upper arm lift (also referred to as "brachioplasty") improves the contour of the arms and therefore the fit of the clothes.
Especially severe changes in weight and weight loss will cause the skin of the arms to lose more and more elasticity. The surgery to tighten the skin of the upper arms will win back a natural condition and improves the contour of the arms.
In some cases the upper arm lift includes two surgical procedures: in the first surgery, Dr. Colette Carmen Camenisch aspirates the fat in excess, similarly to the liposuction procedures to the abdomen and hips. Then, only with the second procedure (after a few months), the skin will be tightened.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, between 1 and 2 hours.
Dr. Colette Carmen Camenisch performs the upper arm lifts as ambulatory procedures at Clinic Beethovenstrasse AG in Zurich. Depending on the extent of the surgery and your personal requests the surgery may be conducted also in the clinic "Pyramide" or at "Klinik im Park": In this case, you will have to overnight for 1 day in the clinic.
Approximately 1 week
A brachioplasty may cause postoperative hemorrhages and accumulations of wound exudates ("seroma"). Light swellings of the hands, tearing of the sutures, somatosensory disorders, feelings of tightness, aesthetically unpleasant scars, thromboses, embolisms, and in very rare cases infections may also occur. Moreover, lesions of the nerves and vessels cannot be safely excluded.
After the surgery, you should wear a special upper arm compression sleeve night and day for 6 weeks. During this time, sports activities, sauna, and intensive UV exposure are strictly forbidden.
The costs for an upper arm lift may vary depending on the extent of the procedure and will be agreed upon in advance. The price is inclusive of all services, such as the consultation, the surgery, the anesthesia, the medications, the hospitalization, the follow-up controls, and all potential corrective surgical procedures.
