The chin is a part of the body that plays an important role in our external appearance. The shape of the chin is unconsciously assigned with different character traits.
Additionaly too much fat in the area under the chin or a so-called "Turkey neck" is often caused by a chin that is too small.
Both in profile but also seen from the front, a chin can be too big, too small, fleeing or asymmetrical. Functional disorders, e.g. difficulties closing your lips may be related to your chin.
Depending on the cause of the chin correction, a correction of the chin leads to an improvement of the profile or to a more symmetrical appearance.
However, a thorough clinical examination of the situation is important in order to analyze possible connections with functional aspects. PD Dr. Dr. Jacobsen will discuss these and propose an optimal correction for you.
For an overall harmonious appearance, Dr. Christine Jacobsen often combines a chin correction (genioplasty) with a nose correction (rhinoplasty). The specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery is known for her empathetic nature and her great instinct. It gives you a fresh look without changing your type.
The chin correction is done solely by moving your own chin bone. For this purpose, a fine cut is made in the lower jaw in the gum area, the bone is exposed, gently cut through with a special ultrasonic cutting technique and moved to the new position.
Once in it's optimal position, it is reattached with titanium screws or small plates. The chin contour is tightened and the lip closure improved depending on the shift. Subsequently, a chin bandage is created for 2 days.
Between 45 minutes and 1 hour
The genioplasty is carried out at Clinic Beethovenstrasse
You will need to stay home for approx. 1 week after the operationl.
Home office is theoretically possible after 2-3 days.
The first follow-up is 3 days after the operation.
The chin bandage is removed. Another outpatient wound control takes place after approx. 7-10 days. The threads dissolve by themselves, but can be removed after 10 days if necessary. The final shape of the chin can be judged after about 6 weeks.
Chin correction is a relatively low-risk operation. However, you must be aware that tissue dissection and surgery on the chin bone can cause a temporary sensory disturbance in the lower lip and / or chin area. This can manifest as numbness, tingling, itching or hypersensitivity and may last for several days to even months. Bruising can also occur around or under the chin after surgery.
Usually the chin heals without problems and any discoloration disappears after a few days.
The cost of a genioplasty are based on effort and are agreed in advance. The price includes all measures such as preliminary discussion, surgery, anesthetics medication, stay, follow-up and any corrective surgery.
