Women who wish to have larger breasts have two options, depending on their body figure: breast augmentation with an implant or with fat transfer.
A breast augmentation with fat transfer («mammary augmentation» with fat transfer) leaves behind only tiny scars. Fat deposits from the upper thighs and hips are aspirated and used to reshape the breast.
The breast is considered one of the most important beauty attributes of a woman. It's the symbol of fertility, desirability, and sensuality. But, some women are not satisfied with the volume of their curves and wish for larger breasts.
If you already possess fat deposits in excess, then, besides the breast augmentation with implants, you have another option to enlarge your breast: a breast augmentation with your own body fat. The fat will be aspirated from the hips, the upper thighs, the abdomen, or the knee, washed, prepared, and, subsequently injected in the breast.
A mammary augmentation with fat transfer yields great results and offers a completely natural and harmonious look. For the procedure to be successful, the breast must already be well-shaped before the surgical procedure. It cannot be sagging, nor can it be asymmetrical.
In the first week after the fat transfer, 70 to 80% of the transferred cells will survive. The remaining 20 up to 30 % of the fat cells will be metabolized by the body. Therefore, the breast will be a bit a smaller a week after the surgery. This surgical procedure is the perfect solution for women with firm breasts and sufficient fat reserves.
Between 2 and 3,5 hours (depending on the extent of the procedure and the desired results)
The surgery is generally performed as an ambulatory procedure at Clinic Beethovenstrasse AG in Zurich, which means that you will be sent home on the same day.
Depending on the extent of the procedure and your personal preferences, Dr. Colette Carmen Camenisch may also perform the surgery in the clinic "Pyramide". How long your stay at the clinic will be, depends on a variety of factors, which will be discussed in advance with Dr. Colette Carmen Camenisch. Ordinarily, the hospital stay should last 1 to 2 days.
For the procedure of transferring fat from the body into the breast, a general anesthesia is necessary.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, between 5 and max. 10 days.
A breast augmentation with fat transfer may cause infections, local postoperative hemorrhages, and hematomas, as well as somatosensory disorders, and, local muscular sclerosis and fat cysts (so-called "oil cysts") may occur. Moreover, it may be possible that the patient will present a slight asymmetry in the areas from where the fat was aspirated.
After a breast augmentation with fat transfer, you should wear for the next 2 weeks well-fitted sports bra. The areas, from where the fat was aspirated will be kept in shape with compression tights and/or a compression girdle. You may practice sports again only six weeks after the surgery.
The costs for a breast augmentation may vary depending on the extent of the procedure. A mammary augmentation with fat transfer is a bit more complex than a breast augmentation with implants. For this reason, it is also a bit more expensive.
The price is inclusive of all services, such as the consultation, the surgery, the anesthesia, the medications, the hospitalizations, and the follow-up controls. Your insurance will cover the costs if the corrective or reconstructive procedure is the consequence of breast cancer. Should the breast augmentation surgery be performed for purely aesthetic reasons, you will have to cover the costs yourself.
